Dysport Injections Restore Youthful Smoothness to Your Skin

Dysport is a medical product used to treat and reduce wrinkles. It is injected into specific areas on the face to smooth out the skin. The FDA approved the use of Dysport in 2009 as a viable temporary treatment for glabellar lines in adults below the age of 65.

Dysport has been often compared with BOTOX due to the many similarities that both treatments possess. For example, Dysport is also composed of Botulinum toxin type A, which is an ingredient that paralyzes wrinkle-causing muscles.

Ideal Candidates

Ideal candidates for the Dysport injection are those with frown lines that appear between the eyes and the forehead, also known as glabellar lines. Many other shallow lines can also be eliminated or reduced with these injections.

The following are conditions that make a person eligible for Dysport treatment:

• They must not be allergic to milk proteins found in cow’s milk.
• They should have no allergic reactions to the Botulinum toxin.
• They should not have any skin infections, especially on the area that is to be treated.
• They should be below the age of 65.

Patients with the following conditions should avoid Dysport injections:

• Myasthenia Gravis
• Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease
• Asthma, emphysema, or any such breathing disorder
• Lambert-Eaton syndrome
• Swallowing problems
• Weakness of facial muscles, which can cause droopy eyelids or an inability to raise eyebrows
• Seizures
• Bleeding issues
• Diabetes
• Heart disease

Individuals who will be undergoing surgery in the near future must also avoid Dysport treatment. The same applies for anyone who has had other forms of Botulinum injections in the last four months.

The Injection Procedure

The procedure begins with the cleaning of the area that will receive the injections, which is done with an alcohol wipe. This is done to prevent an infection. A local anesthetic such as lidocaine may be given to numb the area. However, numbing is not necessary for most cases.

The doctor will then carefully and precisely inject the Dysport solution into the contracted muscles under the wrinkles in the skin.

After Your Injections

In most cases, the patient can return to their normal life almost immediately after injections of Dysport. They can even indulge in strenuous activities in less than a week. There may be a mild amount of temporary bruising, tenderness, redness, and swelling in the areas that have been treated.

Patients must ensure that the treated areas are not rubbed or placed against any surface for at least 12 hours, as this can cause the solution to migrate into other areas. The results become noticeable instantly, and complete changes can be noticed within a few days of the treatment.

Get Started with Dysport

If you would like to find out more about Dysport injections and the types of wrinkles they can treat, contact our office today and set up an informative consultation. After a discussion with Dr. Anita Mandal, a skilled board-certified facial plastic surgeon, all your questions will have been addressed.

Eliminate Submental Fat

Do you suffer from a medical condition called submental fullness, more commonly known as a double chin? If so, you may be interested in learning more about a cutting-edge new solution known as Kybella.

Causes of a Double Chin

Submental fat is often very stubborn and, as a result, difficult to get rid of. While some may be predisposed to this disease or have a higher risk of a double chin due to genetic reasons, it can also occur because of lifestyle choices.

Submental fullness often comes about due to aging, when the jawline tends to lose prominence. The elasticity of the skin diminishes and the skin starts to sag, creating a distorted appearance.

Fullness below your chin can also occur due to other reasons, so it is important to eliminate all other possibilities before concluding that it is a simple case of excess fat deposition.

Problems like thyromegaly, which occurs because of an enlarged thyroid, or cervical lymphadenopathy, which happens due to the enlargement of lymph nodes in one’s neck, may resemble submental fullness. However, they are problems of a very different nature and can’t be cured with cosmetic treatments that aim to dissolve fat.

How Can Kybella Help?

Kybella is a new FDA-approved minimally invasive treatment for submental fullness. During this treatment, a patented synthetic form of deoxycholic acid called ATX-101 is injected in a small area surrounding your jaw and the area of fat accumulation. Deoxycholic acid is a compound produced naturally in the human body, where it metabolizes dietary fats.

What Are the Benefits of Kybella?

When a thick pad of fat starts forming beneath your chin, it can be difficult to get rid of through simple dieting and adoption of other lifestyle measures. It changes the facial profile and can cause a look of premature aging. Kybella can reverse this issue and restore your beauty.

Kybella is completely safe and relatively hassle free. The sessions are quick, and the process doesn’t require any lifestyle changes from the patient.

Icepacks and/or topical numbing agents may need to be applied at the injection site. Other than this, any maintenance work is usually not required after treatment. If there is any bruising or redness, you should consult your doctor. Slight swelling and tenderness for a few days is normal, but the recovery is much quicker than that of an invasive surgical solution.

The skin in the submental area slowly contracts after the fat removal, and after a few months, the effects aren’t visible at all. However, if some leftover aesthetic issues remain, a necklift surgery may be recommended.

Kybella is an effective technique for reduction of moderate to high quantities of fat from your chin. It can make a patient’s neck and chin area look more beautiful, alleviating associated physical or psychological problems. It has been identified as a confidence booster for many.

Restylane Silk: The Perfect Option for Lip Rejuvenation

With age, many patients notice the formation of very fine lines across their face, including above one’s lips. These wrinkles appear as the skin loses moistures, elastin, and collagen. With repetitive lifestyle habits and smoking, the chance of these fine age lines appearing and becoming pronounced increases. Smoker’s lines above the lips need not arise from smoking – genetics and age can also contribute to the condition.

Injectable fillers have been used in the past also to reduce the prominence of age lines in various regions of the face, including marionette lines, horizontal forehead lines, vertical lines between the eyebrows, and the nasolabial folds.

A new filler is now available that focuses specifically on the lips. Restylane Silk is available to improve their fullness and appearance and to treat fine lines above the lips. Use of Restylane Silk for lip augmentation and removal of fine lines has been approved and endorsed by the FDA.

How Does Restylane Silk Work?

Restylane Silk is one of the safest fillers that can be injected to deal with fine age lines in different skin types, including delicate skin. It has a soft consistency and contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring compound in the body.

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule, and its depletion causes the body’s tissues to lose collagen as a faster rate. Because of this, the skin loses smoothness, leading to the formation of wrinkles and fine lines. Because Restylane Silk is composed of micro-molecules, it can replenish the hyaluronic acid in the skin, leading to generation of collagen.

Restylane Silk also contains 0.3% lidocaine, which acts as an anesthetic compound, reducing pain and discomfort when the filler is injected. However, some patients may be allergic to lidocaine, so an allergy test may be performed by the licensed healthcare provider before the injections are administered to the skin.

Advantages of Restylane Silk

The biggest benefit is that the Restylane Silk treatment procedure is completely safe. During the procedure, you may not need numbing shots or topical anesthesia to reduce discomfort, since lidocaine is highly effective. There is almost no downtime, and a session shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes. That means you will be back to your work desk before anyone notices.

Due to smaller particle size of the Restylane Silk filler, it can be delivered with a high degree of accuracy. That leads to better contouring of the skin and reduces chances of lumps and bumps. Since it is minimally invasive, there are usually no lesions or bruises.

Learn More About Restylane Silk

Restylane Silk is an affordable solution to loss of lip volume, formation of vertical smoker’s lines, and more. Along with the potency of the filler, the experience and skill of the caregiver is extremely important. The precise angle at which the filler has to be injected, the place where it has to be injected, and the anesthetic required are decisions that a skilled and experienced doctor can make accurately.

Maintain Your Unique Features with Ethnic Rhinoplasty

ethnic_rhinoplasty_stock_3

In the past, plastic surgeons who specialized in nose reconstruction and correction surgeries could provide patients with only a limited variety of nose types. Also, the techniques used focused primarily on Caucasian noses that were pointed and had a pronounced sloping appearance.

Due to the limited techniques available, many patients who were in other ethnic groups didn’t find rhinoplasty appealing because the corrections often failed to address their unique needs and did not represent their unique characteristics. It was like broad painting everything with the same brush!

Ethnic rhinoplasty is a specialized technique in the field of plastic surgery where an ethnic patient obtains a corrected nose that fits in with the rest of their facial features. The main purpose is to create a perfect balance between all of your hereditary features without suppressing anything that will make you stray too far from your natural look.

How Does It Work?

A nose gets its shape from the unique interactions between skin, cartilage and bones. Every nose is unique because the structure and the manner in which these three elements interact with each other vary significantly from one individual to another.

An ethnic rhinoplasty is the perfect solution if you want to remove a hump, modify the cartilage, change the shape of your your nose, or reshape the skin around your nose.

Different Types of Nose Corrections Based On Ethnicity

Asian Nose Job

An Asian rhinoplasty is a great option for patients from an Asian lineage. While diversity among different ethnic groups in Asia requires customized solutions for every individual, a consultation with your surgeon will allow her to analyze your unique needs and shape a nose that is proportional to your facial appearance.

Noses come in many shapes and sizes. Some people may have flatter nose tips and bridges, while others may have a round tip, a prominent hump, and wider bridges. To increase the height and reduce the width of a nose that is flat, your surgeon will use a technique known as tissue grafting or implant a silicone structure.

African American Nose Job

African American noses can also vary depending on the ancestral lineage. However, some of the common traits are a high and wide bridge, a hump, a bulbous and flat tip with a thin skin tissue covering, short nasal bones and wide nostrils.

Although the focus remains on aesthetic improvement, the surgery often improves functionality of the nose and eases breathing as obstructions may be removed during the process.

Hispanic Nose Job

Hispanic noses may sometimes appear small in proportion to other facial features. They may have stout and flat bridges, a hump, wider nostrils, and a wider base. The procedure usually requires the surgeon to chisel out some soft tissue and cartilage formations without reducing the function of the nose or make breathing more difficult.

Middle Eastern Nose Job

Middle Eastern noses may feature a downward slope, a drooping tip, and also a hump. Demands could vary depending on the needs of the patient. However, like all other plastic surgeries, the patient should have a realistic image and goal in mind.

Infini Radiofrequency Treatment to Improve Damaged Skin

Radiofrequency treatment has been around for over half a century, and its usage is most effective and potent when it comes to skin tightening, scar and acne scar removal, and treatment and rejuvenation of damaged skin. It can also remove wrinkles and fine lines.

Infini RF treatment can improve skin texturing and give the tissues much needed nourishment in the form of RF energy. This stimulates collagen production to help your skin look fresh, young, and free from scars. The depleted elastin levels are also replenished.

Before the introduction of Infini RF machines to the market, no other machine had the same kind of effect on improving the condition of damaged skin. Other technology would have the unfortunate side effects of significant damage and pain to the epidermis and problems related to skin pigmentation.

Infini is a very safe procedure. No long-term complications have been reported for Infini as part of the studies conducted in order to establish the merits and demerits of the Infini RF ablation method.

Infini vs. Other RF Treatments

Some radiofrequency methods use bulk heating techniques to treat all tissues in an area. Infini, on the other hand, focuses on fractured heating and treatment specifically for the targeted tissues. By keeping the surrounding tissues fractionally untouched, the level of healing is much quicker and the discomfort and downtimes are lower. The discomfort index is also much lower.

Many RF treatment devices and methods can’t be used to treat skin in places other than your face and neck. But application of Infini has been proven to be safe when used to tighten or treat skin in several areas, including around your chest, arms, legs, and abdomen.

The Infini Treatment Process

Infini uses insulated microneedles to penetrate deep into the skin while bypassing the epidermal cells. This reduces risks of pigmentation changes and also doesn’t affect the epidermal tissues.

The heat is transferred to a depth of up to 3.5 millimeters and remains concentrated on small areas. As a result, the surrounding tissues are not heated. The level of discomfort and amount of downtime are lessened. Variable depth of treatment from 0.5 mm to 3.5 mm ensures that different layers of your dermis get treated precisely.

After Treatment

You can return back to your normal lifestyle immediately, and no lifestyle changes are usually recommended. You may be asked to quit smoking or reduce the amount of time you spend under the sun, but you can otherwise carry on with your normal life.

You also won’t need frequent treatment sessions. Once you undergo the complete treatment package, you can expect collagen production to be increased for at least seven years, although the amount of collagen produced can vary significantly depending on your lifestyle and the health of your skin.

Lose Excess Fat with a SculpSure Treatment

Let’s face it – getting rid of the last few inches of excess body fat after you have followed a strict diet and exercise routine is the hardest part of your weight-loss journey. The reason for this is because there are certain kinds of fat-cell deposits such as abdominal fat and the love handles that are fairly resistant to changes in metabolism, diet, and exercise.

However, with SculpSure, a cutting-edge innovation in the world of cosmetic enhancement, you can shed the extra baggage that is keeping you only a few inches away from achieving your perfect figure.

What Is SculpSure?

SculpSure is a highly effective and safe revolutionary laser procedure used to melt away stubborn fat deposits from various parts of the body, such as the abs, sides, and waist. It is non-invasive and therefore relatively pain-free compared to traditional fat-reduction surgeries. Within a short span of 25 minutes, you can get rid of extra fat cells and achieve the body of your dreams!

A highly advanced light based device is incorporated to focus a strong laser beam onto the target site. The laser penetrates the top layers of the skin, heats up the fat cells present within, and melts them away to be eliminated by the body’s natural process of cleansing. A breakthrough assistive technology known as Contact Cooling is further employed in conjunction with SculpSure to help the surrounding skin tissues stay cool while the laser selectively targets the underlying pockets of fat.

What You Can Expect During the Procedure and Recovery

SculpSure is an FDA-approved technique that has been found to successfully eliminate 24% of the treated fat cells permanently without employing any surgical procedures. Patients typically feel a slight tingling sensation during the procedure. Once the destroyed fat cells are eliminated by the body’s natural cleansing process within a couple of weeks after the treatment, you will be able to notice the full results of the procedure.

What Are the Benefits of SculpSure?

• Since the procedure does not involve any surgical intervention, there is no pain or scarring whatsoever.
• The fact that SculpSure yields impressive results within a span of only 25 minutes makes it a great option for people who are short on free time.
• There is no downtime and the patient can resume their regular activities right after a session of SculpSure.
• It helps patients achieve perfect definition and contouring of their body without having to go under the knife.
• Since the process is non-invasive, there is no risk of contracting any infections from elsewhere.
• The laser not only melts away excess fat but also promotes tightening and firming of the skin tissues.

The best part about this body-contouring method is that it involves a permanent reduction in the number of fat cells in the body, thus making your fat loss permanent.

Juvederm Injections to Reduce Facial Aging

Fine lines and wrinkles on the face are the first visible signs of aging and can cause distress to many, often leading to a decrease in self-esteem and confidence. Before the effects of aging on our skin get out of hand, it is best to try and remedy them by eating healthy and exercising regularly. However, our skin’s loss of elasticity and decrease in natural production of collagen cannot be held off for long before the inevitable happens. In order to rejuvenate our facial appearance, many of us get dermal filler treatment.

Fillers are a safe and convenient solution. Juvederm is a popular dermal filler that can be used for treatment of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and lines, scar correction, contouring, and lip enhancement.

What Is Juvederm and How Does It Work?

Juvederm is a filler made of hyaluronic acid, which enhances the elasticity of the skin and adds volume to it, giving you more youthful-looking skin. Hyaluronic acid exists naturally in our body, so you do not have to undergo any kind of allergy testing method, since the substance is non-allergenic. It is highly biocompatible and made through biosynthesis.

Aging leads to decreased levels of moisture and nutrients being delivered to the skin. This is corrected by the hyaluronic acid, which acts as a delivery system, keeping the skin healthy and well-nourished.

The Juvederm Procedure and Results

Before an appointment for a Juvederm treatment, patients are advised to stop taking any sort of anti-inflammatory medicine or blood-thinning medication like aspirin for at least a few days before the procedure.

When you come in for the treatment, the surgeon will typically first apply some topical anesthetic on the area that is to be treated. The Juvederm gel is then injected into the mid to deep dermal layers of the skin, depending on how much correction is required in that area. There may be some discomfort during the injection, but Juvederm’s smooth gel consistency makes it easier to be injected than other types of dermal fillers.

After the procedure, you should avoid rigorous exercise, intense heat and sunlight, and alcohol consumption for at least a day. There may be slight swelling and discomfort in the treatment, but that is normal and should subside within a few hours.

The results of Juvederm injections are immediately visible and should last for a number of months. Since it provides temporary effects, repeat procedures will be required after the initial treatment, albeit with smaller quantities of the gel.

Set Up an Appointment to Learn More

Juvederm is a safe and convenient way to revive your skin for a more-youthful appearance. If you would like to find out more about the numerous benefits of Juvederm, contact our office and arrange an appointment for a consultation. Board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Anita Mandal has a great deal of skill and experience when it comes to aesthetic procedures. She will be happy to answer any questions you may have regarding Juvederm and any of the other procedures we offer.

Light, Medium, and Deep Chemical Peels

A chemical peel is a treatment with an acidic solution designed to remove one or more damaged layers of the skin. Typically, it is used to enhance and smooth out the texture of rough skin. It is an excellent treatment option for wrinkles, facial blemishes, and uneven pigmentation of the skin. A peel exfoliates skin layers and reveals fresh layers with better texture, tone, and color.

Good Candidates

Patients with light hair and fair skin are the best candidates for this treatment. However, patients with other hair color and skin pigmentation can achieve a good result as well. If you are unhappy with the appearance of your skin due to acne, wrinkles, bad texture, age spots, or sun damage, then you are an ideal candidate for this treatment.

Light Chemical Peels

Light peels are used in the treatment of dryness, fine wrinkling, acne, and uneven pigmentation. The solution usually comprises of alphahydroxy acids like lactic, glycolic, fruit, or salicylic acids. Light peels are ideal for people who want the benefits of a facial peel but don’t want to spend the time needed to recover from deeper peels.

Medium Chemical Peels

Most of the doctors use trichloroacetic acid for medium peels. This chemical is very effective at treating superficial blemishes, surface wrinkles, and other pigmentation problems. Just like light peels, they require very little downtime. This is usually the preferred peel treatment for patients with darker skin tones.

Deep Chemical Peels

These peels are the strongest option. Phenol acid is the chemical that is most commonly used for deep facial peels. This is used in the treatment of coarse wrinkles, pre-cancerous skin growths, and blotches caused by sun exposure or aging. While a deep peel usually produces the longest-lasting and most dramatic effect, it takes much longer and needs more healing time. A deep peel can also potentially cause permanent lightening of the patient’s skin, so prospective patients must consult with a cosmetic dermatologist before they undergo the procedure.

Are There Any Side Effects?

If the procedure is performed by an experienced facial plastic surgeon, it is completely safe. A possible side effect with light and medium peels is a slight stinging that usually subsides within a day. Deep peels might have more pronounced side effects, but they too will subside in a few days.

Can a Peel Be Used in Areas Other Than the Face?

Though deep peels can be used only on the face, light and medium peels can be used on other body parts as well. Typically, the solution is a bit stronger than the one used for a facial peel, but it is still milder than the phenol solution that is used for deep peels. Chemical peels are often used to minimize the stretch marks on the body after weight loss and pregnancy.

Come In for More Information

If you want to find out more about chemical peels and your rejuvenation choices, the best way to do this is by meeting with board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Anita Mandal. Dr. Mandal knows how to pick the proper peel for each patient. Arrange a consultation – contact us today.

Minimally Invasive Perlane Injections

Modern cosmetology is gradually introducing a number of minimally invasive procedures for clients and one of them is Perlane dermal fillers. Minimally invasive Perlane injections have proven to be very effective in reducing facial wrinkles. These include lip wrinkles, smile lines, and scars, as well as nasolabial folds. All these contribute to making your face look old and ragged.

What Is a Perlane Injection and What Does It Do?

Perlane is actually quite similar to Restylane in the sense that both of them are made up of non-animal hyaluronic acid. This is a natural sugar compound which usually gets depleted as you age.

Perlane is injected into your skin by your facial plastic surgeon using an extremely fine needle. This needle penetrates deep into your skin, and the substance is transported to areas close to your nose and mouth. It helps in filling up wrinkles, deep creases, and scars, as well as boosting facial volume. The treatment is quite short and takes less than an hour. In fact, you could even get it done during your lunch break at the office!

There is no denying the fact that dermal fillers are extremely effective for facial rejuvenation. They offer temporary results which might last from four to eight months. Some patients also combine Perlane with certain other minimally invasive cosmetic treatments such as Dysport or Botox to achieve more long-lasting results.

Perlane Benefits

• Helps in skin smoothening and filling up of deep wrinkles around the nose and mouth areas
• Helps in treating nasolabial folds
• Lends greater volume and plumpness to your lips

Am I a Suitable Candidate for Perlane Injections?

The Perlane dermal filler treatment is an absolutely natural anti-aging treatment used for enhancing the appearance of your face. It is suitable for those who are looking to minimize the unattractive folds, lines, and wrinkles which have developed on their face with continued aging. Individuals who wish to add more volume to their lips and/or cheeks can also opt for minimally invasive Perlane injection treatments.

The risk of experiencing allergic reactions is actually reduced by the natural substance present in Perlane. Therefore, most people make for good candidates for this treatment.

Safe and Quick

As mentioned earlier, the administration of Perlane is done via injections (with a very fine needle). Your facial plastic surgeon might provide a local anesthetic for minimizing any discomfort experienced during the procedure. It is important to know that the needle used for Perlane administration is so fine that it can easily be tolerated by almost all patients.

You don’t need to set aside a lot of time for this treatment, since it takes about 35 to 40 minutes to complete it. This makes it a highly convenient option for those who have extremely busy daily schedules.

After the Perlane treatment, you might experience minor swelling or/and redness in the injected areas. This is quite normal. Your facial plastic surgeon will provide you with an OTC pain medication or suggest use of a cold compress to ease any discomfort or swelling.

Getting Restylane Injections Reduces Wrinkles

The skin is the body’s largest organ. It protects every other organ and works tirelessly to keep you in proper equilibrium. It is a barrier for the germs, infections, and other contaminants that may wreak havoc if they enter the body.

The skin is exposed to the environment, so it takes a fair bit of damage on a daily basis. Aging, stressors, and other factors like this contribute to the formation of lines, wrinkles, and other signs of aging. To rejuvenate and revitalize the skin, many people come in for Restylane injections.

Restylane

The active ingredient in Restylane is hyaluronic acid. It is used to smooth out wrinkles and other facial lines. It can effectively lift the skin in such a way that it restores a youthful appearance.

That may sound artificial and unnatural, but hyaluronic acid is actually a substance that is produced inside the body. It is a natural substance that is part of the skin’s structural components. It is, in fact, found all over the body, wherever there is connective tissue.

Hyaluronic acid is the most potent material known to man when it comes to its ability to hold moisture. One gram of hyaluronic acid can retain six liters of water. Even synthetic polymers cannot hold that much water. That is where its anti-aging effects come to play. One of the first signs of aging skin is the loss of its ability to hold moisture, resulting in reduced levels of pliability and firmness.

Restylane is an injectable formula that can be used to smooth out the skin around the mouth and nose and make moderate and harsh lines disappear. While it is used mostly by middle-aged people, the therapy can also be used for those younger patients with premature lines. Its use is approved by the FDA for treatment of facial wrinkles and nasolabial folds only. It is not to be used elsewhere.

The effects of Restylane can last up to six months, depending on how well it works with the patient’s skin. Apart from filling wrinkles, it can also be used to give the skin a fuller appearance and is a lot safer to use than other types of synthetic dermal fillers. It also gives a more natural, subtle look when compared to other types of fillers.

How It Is Used

Restylane is a substance that is normally found in liquid form, and it is injected under the skin. Its effects can be seen after a few days of the procedure. A bit of swelling, tenderness, and soreness is common but only temporary. Once the tissues have had time to heal for a few days, the rejuvenating effects are apparent.

Restylane should only be administered by a qualified doctor or physician. Do not ever attempt to go off market or use it without the guidance of a medical professional. Always speak to your doctor beforehand.
