Feeling Embarrassed About the Appearance of Your Ears?

Most of us are lucky enough to be born in good health and with everything in our body properly functioning. Our health is one of the most important factors and plays a major role in how we carry about our daily activities. Good health is important for our overall well-being.

Some people, when they are born however, are not as lucky. A large number of babies are born with certain defects that may have been correctable had they been discovered at a very early stage of infancy, when the bones and cartilage of our body were still soft and malleable. In most cases, parents fail to notice that anything is wrong with their infant and realize it only in the later stages of development, when treatment is inefficient.

One of the most common malformations in infants is ear deformities. This means an irregularity in the shape, position, or proportions of the ear. When discovered within the first four weeks of birth, such deformities can be easily correct using non-invasive procedures.

Once the stage has passed, it is not possible to correct such deformities using non-invasive procedures. The condition is still correctable by means of a cosmetic procedure called otoplasty, or ear surgery.

Otoplasty Surgery

Otoplasty is essentially a cosmetic surgery that is used to correct ear deformities that are present at birth or have developed as the result of an injury.

Ear surgery brings the ear to a more natural shape by correcting its proportions and shape. It can be used to correct abnormally large ears, mistakes that occurred in a previous ear surgery, protruding ears, and more.

The Procedure

Otoplasty is an invasive procedure. The patient is first anesthetized before the procedure in order to make the procedure more comfortable. You will be given a choice between local and general anesthesia. With local anesthesia, only the area where the surgery is being performed will be numbed, meaning you will be conscious during the procedure. With general anesthesia, you will be sedated for the entire procedure.

Once this is done, your surgeon will make incisions along the inner rim of your ear or on the back of your ear. Through this procedure, cartilage can be reduced in size or resculpted, thus giving a more natural shape to the ear.

The incisions are then carefully closed using sutures so as to not give the ear an unsightly or “pulled back” appearance. Suturing must be done very carefully and without distorting any other structures in the ear.

After the Surgery

Results are visible almost immediately after the surgery. Post-surgical marks from incisions are well hidden within the folds of the ear and are not visible.

Proper rest is recommended for faster recovery. During the recovery period, it is advisable to stay away from physically exerting yourself. Make sure to avoid activities that have a direct impact on your ear. Healing varies from person to person. Some people take longer than others to recover from the surgery. Generally, complete healing can take up to three weeks.

Infini Tightens Skin and Removes Blemishes

There are many anti-aging techniques available on today’s market. This is because of the ever-increasing demands of the aging population. Nobody likes looking old. It can make you feel old, too. The most apparent signs of aging appear on the skin in the form of wrinkles, fine lines, crow’s feet, sagging, puffiness, discoloration, and blemishes.

Fortunately, there are solutions for people who want to restore their youthful appearance. Infini is a brand new treatment that has been gaining popularity all over the world. It has radiofrequency technology that helps treat wrinkles, sagging skin, and blemishes, as well as correct changes in texture and tone of the skin.

The Magic Behind Infini

Infini works by combining micro needling with fractional radiofrequency technology. This is one of the most advanced techniques to combat signs of aging. It is also the most effective, because it focuses on the dermis of the skin, an area that other anti-aging treatments don’t pay attention to.

The dermis is the second layer of our skin. It contains compounds like elastin and collagen, which play a major role in maintaining the health of the skin. Infini delivers heat energy to the dermis via radiofrequency, which helps promote collagen production as well as tissue tightening. As more collagen is produced, you will notice a dramatic reduction in wrinkles and fine lines and an improvement in skin tone and texture.

What Issues Can Be Treated with Infini?

This unique groundbreaking treatment is effective in treating several issues, including:
• Wrinkles and fine lines
• Scars and blemishes
• Stretch marks
• Loose sagging skin
• Enlarged pores
• Excessive secretion of sebum

Infini is also the best option if you’re looking to rejuvenate your skin, which includes resurfacing and tightening.

How Is Infini Better than Other Anti-Aging Treatments?

The combination of radiofrequency energy and microneedling in Infini treatments results in smoother and tighter skin. This is something that most of the other anti-aging treatments on the market fail to achieve.

The treatment has several other benefits, such as boosting collagen production, tissue revolumization and coagulation, and an overall improvement in the texture and quality of skin. These are results that are not guaranteed by other anti-aging treatments.

Infini also helps with scar remodeling and blemish correction. Scars caused by trauma and acne are easily treated by the radiofrequency waves and microneedling. Blemishes are easily corrected by Infini, as it improves skin tone and complexion.

Who Is the Best Candidate to Undergo Infini Treatments?

Anyone who wants to remove wrinkles, fine lines, and other signs of aging can choose to undergo Infini treatments. It is also the best solution for people who have acne scars and blemishes. Infini is an ideal option for skin rejuvenation and restoring a youthful appearance.

Most areas of one’s skin respond well to Infini treatments. The most common areas people want treated are the face and neck. Infini works well in the décolletage area as well.

Get Started with Infini Treatments

When you speak with board-certified facial plastic surgeon Dr. Anita Mandal, you can find out more about your treatment options and the best solution for you. Contact us to set up your consultation.

Dysport: The Solution to Your Age Lines

Everyone loves having younger and tighter skin. You may not be able to stop the process of aging, but you can definitely take measures to stop the symptoms from showing themselves. One such measure is Dysport injections. If you want to get rid of those fine lines and wrinkles that are obscuring your beauty, Dysport can help. With it, you can get wrinkle-free skin in a matter of a few days.

What Is Dysport?

Dysport is a kind of injection. The main component that it contains is a compound called abobotulinumtoxinA, which is also sometimes referred to as Botulinum toxin type A. This compound specializes in blocking the activity of the muscles, which leads to decreased muscle activity. Decreasing the activity of contracted muscles lessens the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles in the overlying facial skin.

What Is the Working Mechanism of Dysport?

Dysport reduces muscle activity, reducing the appearance of age lines in a number of areas on the skin, including the forehead and between the eyebrows. Do you know how wrinkles form?

Wrinkles form when muscles contract and move repeatedly over the course of many years. Once the muscles have contracted repeatedly in this way, they get used to their new positions and have trouble returning to a relaxed position. This affects the appearance of the skin, creating age lines. Wrinkles can not only appear in adults but also in younger people.

Dysport injections are usually given in five points above and below the eyebrows, which limits the appearance of frown lines. This doesn’t mean you cannot move your muscles – you can do that as normal for the rest of the face. Dysport ensures that you do not get the frozen look that is sometimes seen in other cosmetic procedures.

What Are the Advantages of Dysport?

Dysport is recommended by many doctors for those who want to get rid of those fine lines and wrinkles. This is because of the many advantages that it has.

• Dysport injections can give you faster results than most other cosmetic procedures. Thus, you won’t have to wait for a long time to see perfect and flawless skin.

• There is no recovery period needed after Dysport injections. No recovery period means you don’t have to wait before getting back to your daily schedule.

• The treatment involves at most only minimal discomfort and pain. Thus, the need for anesthesia does not arise for Dysport.

• The Dysport injections have protein in low concentrations. This helps Dysport to spread out more evenly beneath the skin.

• This treatment procedure is much more affordable than other cosmetic procedures used to remove wrinkles.

• Dysport is completely approved by FDA as a safe procedure.

Stop Worrying About Those Wrinkles

Do you crave younger-looking skin? Then why are you brooding over your lines and wrinkles? With Dysport, you won’t need to worry about facial wrinkles. Get back your lost confidence in no time with these effective injections and feel comfortable in your own skin.

Fill Folds and Wrinkles Using Juvederm Injections

Sometimes, pollution and other biological factors can cause you to look older than you already are. Other times, aging can take its toll on your skin, making it look dull and old. Wrinkles, fine lines, and folds are very common in today’s world, and women are doing more and more to hide all these signs of aging. Thanks to science, it has also become relatively convenient, safe, and easier to get a lift. Juvederm injections are one natural, safe way to fill in the signs of aging.

What Is Juvederm?

Juvederm is a type of injectable filler. It is made up of hyaluronic acid, which is a completely natural substance found in our body. It binds our skin cells together, which is what gives it a firm appearance. Hyaluronic acid is naturally degradable, so our body processes it naturally and the effects are not permanent. It is FDA approved, safe to use, and the effects also last longer than other fillers Juvederm has become a very commonly used filler in recent times.

How to Fill Folds and Wrinkles with Juvederm

Juvederm has become very common and more people are opting for it to get a firmer-looking face and skin. Physical appearance can be a crucial factor for some people and thus getting fillers makes them feel more confident. Juvederm injections are versatile and almost anyone over the age of 18 can get them.

Aging comes with its own demons, such as dull, dry skin and saggy skin on the face. You can consider getting injections in the affected area to ease the appearance of lines and wrinkles. This will also give your face a rested appearance and make you look years younger almost instantly.

If you feel as if your lips have lost their plumpness, which can happen due to a variety of reasons such as aging, smoking, hormones, and the genes, getting lip fillers helps you fix the problem. Juvederm injections in the lips will make them look plump and less wrinkly and dry.

If you have loose skin and wrinkles, you can use Juvederm to fix the problem. Juvederm injections will also help you reduce the appearance of scars from acne.

You can set an appointment with your doctor for consultation and discuss which filler you would prefer and your desired results prior to getting the treatment done.

Where Can I Use Juvederm?

Juvederm fillers are made up of a natural substance called hyaluronic acid. This makes it very safe to use and thus is FDA approved. The effects are not permanent and our body processes it naturally. Thus you can use these fillers on the face without issues.

You will see results immediately after getting injectables. This is an ideal non-surgical minimally invasive fix for fine lines, wrinkles, and folds.

Your Wrinkles Can’t Stand Up to Botox

Are you fed up with fine lines and wrinkles in your skin? Then come in for Botox treatments and make that skin wrinkle-free! Botox is a chemical treatment for the skin that can relax away facial wrinkles. This is achieved by paralyzing the underlying facial muscles to prevent overuse.

What Is Botox?

Botox is an injectable muscle relaxant derived from the bacterium Clostridium botulinum, which is the main causative agent for food poisoning.

Botox can be used to treat many issues, not just facial wrinkles. Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating), cervical dystonia (repetitive neck spasms), and lazy eye can all be addressed with Botox. Those who suffer from the problem of incontinence can also get relief with Botox injections. Even those who suffer from chronic headaches can get them remedied using Botox.

What Is the Procedure for Administering Botox?

Botox is administered with the help of injections and is given directly into the muscles. These injections should be given only by a trained medical professional. Treatment is quite quick and convenient, requiring only around 15 minutes to perform. Afterwards, patients can return to their daily schedules without downtime.

The toxin is given after diluting it in saline. After dilution, it is injected into the neuromuscular tissue of the region you want to treat. But the effects are not instant. It will take approximately 24 to 72 hours for the injections to show their effects on the wrinkles in the skin, and in some cases, it can take up to five days.

How Does Botox Work?

The main reason why Botox can treat wrinkles is that it targets the muscles that lie beneath the wrinkled skin. You may not know that when you frown, squint, or make any other facial expression, a special neurotransmitter chemical is released by your nerves. This chemical is known as acetylcholine. The function of this chemical is to bind with the muscle receptors, thus bringing about their contraction.

Repeated contraction of the facial muscles makes them less able to return to a relaxed position. As we make the same expressions over and over again throughout our lives, the muscles begin to stay contracted. This disrupts the smooth surface of the skin, creating shallow wrinkles. The muscles need help relaxing back to a normal position.

Here is where the Botox injections work. They bind to muscle receptors and prevent the acetylcholine transmission process. Messages will still be sent to the muscles by your nerves for contraction and acetylcholine will still be released, but it will not be able to bind itself with the muscles. This reduces muscle activity to reduce wrinkle formation and smooth out age lines.

How Long Will the Effects of Botox Treatment Last?

The time for which the treatment will last varies from person to person and depends on various factors. Your age is one of those determining characters. The skin condition of the patient is also one of the important factors that will determine the longevity of the effect. Some other factors include the facial structure, diet, and results of any past Botox treatments. Typically, the results of Botox last around three to four months.

Arrange a Date for Your Botox Treatments

With Botox treatment, you will see a visible reduction in treated wrinkles. If you want your youthful skin back, then Botox is an excellent option. Get started today – contact our office and schedule a consultation with Dr. Anita Mandal, a board-certified facial plastic surgeon.

What Makes the Pumpkin Peel Unique?

Young pretty woman receiving face massage

These days, facial peels have become incredibly popular with so many ladies, young and old alike, trying them out to obtain smooth and beautiful skin. Most of the peels available, however, can be harsh on the skin and cause discomfort.

A great alternative to chemical facial peels is the pumpkin skin peel. This peel is known to be gentle, exfoliating, and refreshing yet effective at the same time. It is a great alternative for people who want a more gentle treatment option.

Pumpkins are Filled with Skin Rejuvenating Nutrients

A pumpkin is a storehouse of vitamins and antioxidants. It contains vitamin C, beta carotene, potassium, and zinc. The nutrients present in pumpkins can help improve the tone and texture of the skin.

The Pumpkin Peel Can Improve the Skin’s Tone and Texture

Pumpkin peels can help reduce pigmentation and acne to a very large extent. It can be used to exfoliate and deep clean the skin’s surface and further improve its tone and texture. The vitamin C in pumpkins can help treat hyperpigmentation and an uneven skin tone, further improving the overall complexion of the face.

The pumpkin peel can also exfoliate the skin and help get rid of any dirt, dead skin cells, and any other impurities. Once the dead cells and impurities are removed, the peel can facilitate cell renewal and accelerates the skin’s recovery.

Pumpkin peels are known to boost the body’s elastin and collagen levels, making it more toned, youthful, and beautiful. You can say goodbye to aging and wrinkled skin. In addition to reducing wrinkles and fine lines, it can also make the skin healthier by increasing its hydration.

Pumpkin Peels vs Chemical Peels

When compared to the pumpkin peel, chemical peels are an extensive affair and may require a high degree of maintenance. Chemical peels can penetrate deep into the surface layers of the skin and depending on its strength, it may become harsh. On the other hand, a pumpkin peel is a much more gentle treatment. It’s less intensive in nature and provides great results. After undergoing the treatment, your skin will shed its signs of aging and display signs of new life.

The Pumpkin Peel Procedure

As with any other type of peel treatment, the skin is first cleansed to remove any dirt or makeup. After that, your doctor will wash it again to make sure that it’s squeaky clean and free of any excess impurities. Once the cleaning is complete, your doctor will apply the peel solution. The pumpkin peel will be removed after the prescribed amount of time and the face is massaged to settle any irritation and to moisturize the skin.

For the best results, it is highly recommended that you wear sunscreen to keep your skin protected while you are exposed to the sun. If possible, you should avoid spending a lot of time in the sun. Your skin will be sensitive for a period of time and the sun can be damaging.

A Chemical Peel Gives You Smoother Skin

Having younger-looking skin would be a dream come true. It takes patience and cutting back on smoking, junk food, and a sedentary lifestyle to get better-looking skin.

Unfortunately, not many of us have it in us to follow a strict routine, and so the sags and creases have a tendency of creeping up sooner than later. As a result, we end up with marks on our skin, making us look older than we actually are.

Instead of wallowing in self-pity, we have the choice to come in for skin treatments to heal and rejuvenate our skin. One option, a chemical peel, is a non-surgical treatment that can address multiple skin issues simultaneously.

Choosing the Best Peel for Your Skin

During a consultation at our office, we will perform an examination to determine the best peel option for you. The extent of your skin issues will be taken into account, as will numerous other factors.

A chemical peel has any of these components: alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), beta hydroxy acid (BHA), phenol, and trichloroacetic acid (TCA). Any of these can be used on the skin as an exfoliator to effectively erase damage.

Rough or Sunburnt Skin

The elements can take a visible toll on the skin. If you have rough, worn skin from overexposure to the sun, you definitely need a peel. The uneven skin tone that results from the sun’s rays is reduced completely with the right chemical peel treatment.

Dark spots that appear out of nowhere on the skin, also known as age spots, can also be eliminated with this treatment. The spots fade away after the peel and make you look your age or younger instead of older than you really are.

Superficial Peels

A superficial chemical peel has been known to cut back on the aging process and can be repeated quite often. Many people prefer this as an option, as it does not require a great deal of recovery time. It’s quite convenient, and after the treatment, you can go back to your workday.

The Treatment

The chemical peel is applied onto the skin and is then given time to soak into the layers. Your peel will rejuvenate the areas that need smoothing out, and the dried and troubled epidermis will be erased in favor of younger-looking texture under the skin.

After the peel, you must make sure that you use proper sunscreen or lotion with the right SPF (sun protection factor). Protecting your skin will be vital as it heals, and once healing is complete, it’s the best way to keep your results looking beautiful.

Scheduling a Consultation to Learn More

A chemical peel requires the expertise of an experienced medical professional to analyze the skin and find a solution to its aesthetic issues. With the aid of Dr. Anita Mandal, an experienced and skilled board-certified facial plastic surgeon, you’ll be able to rejuvenate your skin safely for great results.

Dysport Injections Restore Youthful Smoothness to Your Skin

Dysport is a medical product used to treat and reduce wrinkles. It is injected into specific areas on the face to smooth out the skin. The FDA approved the use of Dysport in 2009 as a viable temporary treatment for glabellar lines in adults below the age of 65.

Dysport has been often compared with BOTOX due to the many similarities that both treatments possess. For example, Dysport is also composed of Botulinum toxin type A, which is an ingredient that paralyzes wrinkle-causing muscles.

Ideal Candidates

Ideal candidates for the Dysport injection are those with frown lines that appear between the eyes and the forehead, also known as glabellar lines. Many other shallow lines can also be eliminated or reduced with these injections.

The following are conditions that make a person eligible for Dysport treatment:

• They must not be allergic to milk proteins found in cow’s milk.
• They should have no allergic reactions to the Botulinum toxin.
• They should not have any skin infections, especially on the area that is to be treated.
• They should be below the age of 65.

Patients with the following conditions should avoid Dysport injections:

• Myasthenia Gravis
• Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig’s Disease
• Asthma, emphysema, or any such breathing disorder
• Lambert-Eaton syndrome
• Swallowing problems
• Weakness of facial muscles, which can cause droopy eyelids or an inability to raise eyebrows
• Seizures
• Bleeding issues
• Diabetes
• Heart disease

Individuals who will be undergoing surgery in the near future must also avoid Dysport treatment. The same applies for anyone who has had other forms of Botulinum injections in the last four months.

The Injection Procedure

The procedure begins with the cleaning of the area that will receive the injections, which is done with an alcohol wipe. This is done to prevent an infection. A local anesthetic such as lidocaine may be given to numb the area. However, numbing is not necessary for most cases.

The doctor will then carefully and precisely inject the Dysport solution into the contracted muscles under the wrinkles in the skin.

After Your Injections

In most cases, the patient can return to their normal life almost immediately after injections of Dysport. They can even indulge in strenuous activities in less than a week. There may be a mild amount of temporary bruising, tenderness, redness, and swelling in the areas that have been treated.

Patients must ensure that the treated areas are not rubbed or placed against any surface for at least 12 hours, as this can cause the solution to migrate into other areas. The results become noticeable instantly, and complete changes can be noticed within a few days of the treatment.

Get Started with Dysport

If you would like to find out more about Dysport injections and the types of wrinkles they can treat, contact our office today and set up an informative consultation. After a discussion with Dr. Anita Mandal, a skilled board-certified facial plastic surgeon, all your questions will have been addressed.

Eliminate Submental Fat

Do you suffer from a medical condition called submental fullness, more commonly known as a double chin? If so, you may be interested in learning more about a cutting-edge new solution known as Kybella.

Causes of a Double Chin

Submental fat is often very stubborn and, as a result, difficult to get rid of. While some may be predisposed to this disease or have a higher risk of a double chin due to genetic reasons, it can also occur because of lifestyle choices.

Submental fullness often comes about due to aging, when the jawline tends to lose prominence. The elasticity of the skin diminishes and the skin starts to sag, creating a distorted appearance.

Fullness below your chin can also occur due to other reasons, so it is important to eliminate all other possibilities before concluding that it is a simple case of excess fat deposition.

Problems like thyromegaly, which occurs because of an enlarged thyroid, or cervical lymphadenopathy, which happens due to the enlargement of lymph nodes in one’s neck, may resemble submental fullness. However, they are problems of a very different nature and can’t be cured with cosmetic treatments that aim to dissolve fat.

How Can Kybella Help?

Kybella is a new FDA-approved minimally invasive treatment for submental fullness. During this treatment, a patented synthetic form of deoxycholic acid called ATX-101 is injected in a small area surrounding your jaw and the area of fat accumulation. Deoxycholic acid is a compound produced naturally in the human body, where it metabolizes dietary fats.

What Are the Benefits of Kybella?

When a thick pad of fat starts forming beneath your chin, it can be difficult to get rid of through simple dieting and adoption of other lifestyle measures. It changes the facial profile and can cause a look of premature aging. Kybella can reverse this issue and restore your beauty.

Kybella is completely safe and relatively hassle free. The sessions are quick, and the process doesn’t require any lifestyle changes from the patient.

Icepacks and/or topical numbing agents may need to be applied at the injection site. Other than this, any maintenance work is usually not required after treatment. If there is any bruising or redness, you should consult your doctor. Slight swelling and tenderness for a few days is normal, but the recovery is much quicker than that of an invasive surgical solution.

The skin in the submental area slowly contracts after the fat removal, and after a few months, the effects aren’t visible at all. However, if some leftover aesthetic issues remain, a necklift surgery may be recommended.

Kybella is an effective technique for reduction of moderate to high quantities of fat from your chin. It can make a patient’s neck and chin area look more beautiful, alleviating associated physical or psychological problems. It has been identified as a confidence booster for many.

Restylane Silk: The Perfect Option for Lip Rejuvenation

With age, many patients notice the formation of very fine lines across their face, including above one’s lips. These wrinkles appear as the skin loses moistures, elastin, and collagen. With repetitive lifestyle habits and smoking, the chance of these fine age lines appearing and becoming pronounced increases. Smoker’s lines above the lips need not arise from smoking – genetics and age can also contribute to the condition.

Injectable fillers have been used in the past also to reduce the prominence of age lines in various regions of the face, including marionette lines, horizontal forehead lines, vertical lines between the eyebrows, and the nasolabial folds.

A new filler is now available that focuses specifically on the lips. Restylane Silk is available to improve their fullness and appearance and to treat fine lines above the lips. Use of Restylane Silk for lip augmentation and removal of fine lines has been approved and endorsed by the FDA.

How Does Restylane Silk Work?

Restylane Silk is one of the safest fillers that can be injected to deal with fine age lines in different skin types, including delicate skin. It has a soft consistency and contains hyaluronic acid, a naturally occurring compound in the body.

Hyaluronic acid is a sugar molecule, and its depletion causes the body’s tissues to lose collagen as a faster rate. Because of this, the skin loses smoothness, leading to the formation of wrinkles and fine lines. Because Restylane Silk is composed of micro-molecules, it can replenish the hyaluronic acid in the skin, leading to generation of collagen.

Restylane Silk also contains 0.3% lidocaine, which acts as an anesthetic compound, reducing pain and discomfort when the filler is injected. However, some patients may be allergic to lidocaine, so an allergy test may be performed by the licensed healthcare provider before the injections are administered to the skin.

Advantages of Restylane Silk

The biggest benefit is that the Restylane Silk treatment procedure is completely safe. During the procedure, you may not need numbing shots or topical anesthesia to reduce discomfort, since lidocaine is highly effective. There is almost no downtime, and a session shouldn’t take more than 30 minutes. That means you will be back to your work desk before anyone notices.

Due to smaller particle size of the Restylane Silk filler, it can be delivered with a high degree of accuracy. That leads to better contouring of the skin and reduces chances of lumps and bumps. Since it is minimally invasive, there are usually no lesions or bruises.

Learn More About Restylane Silk

Restylane Silk is an affordable solution to loss of lip volume, formation of vertical smoker’s lines, and more. Along with the potency of the filler, the experience and skill of the caregiver is extremely important. The precise angle at which the filler has to be injected, the place where it has to be injected, and the anesthetic required are decisions that a skilled and experienced doctor can make accurately.
