Advantages of a Laser WhisperLift Over a Traditional Facelift

These days, you have the option of selecting from a number of different facelift techniques. These options all offer their own pros and cons and are chosen based on the needs and goals of each individual patient.

Are you planning to get a facelift but are unsure which treatment to choose? One procedure that has recently attracted attention is the Laser WhisperLift™.

This is highly versatile state-of-the-art facelift procedure is designed to reduce unwanted fat from the face and tighten the skin, making it more youthful and firm.

5 Ways in Which the Laser WhisperLift Is Better Than the Traditional Facelift

1. It Is Less Invasive

In a traditional facelift surgery, surgeons make a long incision on or near the hairline stretching from one ear to the other, followed by alteration and removal of various types of tissues. This can be highly effective, but it is also quite invasive and requires a fair amount of recovery time.

The Laser WhisperLift, on the other hand, involves three to five very small incisions in specific areas of the face. Once these one-centimeter incisions have been made, a laser is carefully guided underneath the skin to tighten sagging skin and destroy excess fat cells.

2. It Is a Shorter Procedure

The Laser WhisperLift surgery takes just sixty to ninety minutes to complete. The traditional facelift can take anywhere between two and four hours to finish.

Additionally, in the Laser WhisperLift, the patient is placed under local anesthesia, which is much safer than the general anesthesia typically used during a traditional facelift.

3. Recovery Time Is Much Shorter

The stitches made during the traditional facelift are usually removed seven to ten days after the surgery. The swelling and tenderness go down in one to two weeks’ time, and you can get back to work after ten to fourteen days.

In contrast, the stitches from the Laser WhisperLift procedure can usually be removed two to four days after the treatment, and the tenderness reduces in a week’s time. You can return to work by the end of the week.

4. Post-Surgical Marks Are Minimal

Because the incisions used in the Laser WhisperLift surgery are very small, post-surgical marks are minimal. Even during the surgery, Dr. Mandal ensures that the incisions are made only on areas of the face where marks will be well-camouflaged.

5. Results Are Almost Immediate

The laser in the Laser WhisperLift procedure is designed to immediately eliminate fat cells in the face. After surgery, you will notice a significant enhancement in the way your face looks. Your skin will also start to look tighter in a week or two as new collagen and elastin growth occurs.

With the traditional facelift, on the other hand, it takes longer to see the full results. This is because patients must wait for the swelling and bruising to fully ameliorate.

Make Restylane Your Top Choice for Wrinkle Removal

The skin of the face is prone to developing a number of unwelcome signs of aging. Some of the most prominent age signs are lines and wrinkles. As these form and multiply, the overall appearance of the face looks older and more worn.

To smooth away wrinkles and facial folds, many patients come in for treatments using an injectable product called Restylane. This product has been proven safe and effective as a result of years of testing and clinical trials.

Restylane: Impressive Wrinkle Reduction

Restylane is used to diminish a number of wrinkles and age lines in the skin. It corrects many moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds:

The Nasolabial Folds: Lines stretching diagonally from the sides of the nose to the corners of the mouth

Marionette Lines: Lines stretching down from the corners of the mouth

Parentheses Lines: Lines framing the corners of the mouth

Smoker’s Lines: Vertical lines around the lips

How Does Restylane Work?

Restylane is a clear gel formulation of non-animal-sourced hyaluronic acid (HA). It is created to act like the body’s naturally produced HA, which is a substance present in the tissues. This substance attracts water molecules and binds to them, creating volume to plump the skin.

What to Expect During a Restylane Treatment

Restylane treatments start with marking of the targeted treatment areas. The Restylane injections are then carefully administered with the help of an ultrafine needle. Because the formulation contains lidocaine, a local anesthesia, the injections numb the treatment regions to pain and discomfort.

Typically, the procedure takes less than a half an hour to perform. After it is complete, you can return home or to work without any need for downtime.

Benefits of Restylane

Restylane offers a number of benefits:

• The effects of a Restylane treatment remain for up to 18 months, much longer than many other injectables. Because every patient’s metabolism is different, duration of results will vary. After its benefits have worn off, you can return for follow-up treatments.

• Restylane rarely causes any allergic reactions, since it is made using bacteria proteins as opposed to animal proteins.

• There is no need for a skin allergy test, which would take weeks.

• Restylane creates natural fullness without any hardness or lumps and provides significant volume.

• Unlike surgery, the treatment does not require recovery time. This means that busy professionals can return to work immediately without being sidetracked by weeks of downtime.

Look More Youthful

Restylane has the power to take years off of the face by increasing the skin’s volume. It corrects facial imperfections and restores a more youthful look to the face, making Restylane a very popular choice for wrinkle removal.

Dr. Anita Mandal is a well-respected board-certified facial plastic surgeon with years of experience as an injector. To experience the benefits of Restylane for yourself, contact us to schedule your consultation. During a consultation, Dr. Mandal will answer your questions, show you before-and-after photos, and walk you through the procedure.

What Does It Mean to Have BellaDiamond Status?

Suneva Medical, Inc., is an aesthetics company focused on developing, manufacturing, and commercializing differentiated products for the general dermatology and aesthetics market. The company markets ArteFill in Korea and Singapore, Bellafill in the U.S. and Canada, Reginica in the U.S. and Canada, and Refissa in the U.S.

Suneva Medical’s BellaDiamond Status is the most prestigious distinction awarded by the company to providers for their expertise and experience using Bellafill. The prestigious BellaDiamond status is reserved for the top 1% of Bellafill injectors in the United States.

Dr. Anita Mandal is a board-certified facial plastic surgeon who has achieved BellaDiamond Status and is the highest volume injector of Bellafill in southeast Florida. If you’re looking for high-quality facial rejuvenation, Dr. Mandal is the obvious choice.

What Is Bellafill?

Formerly known as Artefill, Bellafill is a dermal filler that was approved by the FDA in 2007. It is the only dermal filler that stimulates long-term collagen growth to help maintain a youthful appearance.

Bellafill can be used to:
• Smooth away a number of fine lines and wrinkles
• Address acne scars
• Fill in undereye depressions
• Lift, contour, and define the cheeks
• Reshape the nose
• Enhance and define the lips
• Define the jawline

Bellafill is the only filler approved for the treatment of acne scars. It is the only filler with five-year safety and efficiency data for treatment of the nasolabial folds, which are the deep wrinkles stretching from the corners of the mouth to the corners of the nose. It meets the need of patients who ask for safe and long-lasting products.

This filler adopts a non-surgical and minimally invasive approach, allowing patients to continue with their days without weeks of downtime. Amongst the chaos that comes with living in today’s fast-paced world, many people just don’t have the time to recover from invasive plastic-surgery procedures, making this product ideal.

How Does It Work?

Bellafill comes in the form of a convenient dermal injection. Its tiny polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres are suspended in a base of smooth collagen gel. The ingredients provide volume that is instant and lasts for up to five years.

The collagen forms a foundation that adds volume to the skin, smoothing out wrinkles and creating natural-looking results. The PMMA microspheres help the skin to create its own firmer structure for beautiful younger-looking skin.

The PMMA used in Bellafill has a long history of biocompatibility. It has been traditionally used in cataract surgery for more than 60 years.

BellaDiamond Status and What It Means

BellaDiamond status is the top distinction and prestige awarded by Suneva Medical to providers for their experience and expertise in procedures using Suneva Medical products, including popular facial fillers.

Can an Eye Lift Make My Puffy Eyelids Look Normal Again?

If you have puffy eyelids, rest assured that you aren’t alone. For people who are concerned about their puffy eyelids, an eye lift might be just what they’ve been looking for.

The eye lift, also known as blepharoplasty surgery, is a procedure that removes excess skin, fat, and muscle tissue from the eyelids in order to combat sagging, puffiness, and fine lines.

While it is usually done for cosmetic reasons, an eye lift can also be used to improve older people’s field of vision. Many older people suffer reduced eyesight when their sagging eyelids get in the way of their vision.

Do I Make a Good Candidate for an Eye Lift?

The best candidates for an eye lift are people who have realistic goals and are in good health. Most patients tend to be older than 35. However, some people choose to have the surgery done while they are younger if puffy eyelids run in their family.

Are the Results Permanent?

The results from an upper-eyelid surgery tend to last for five to seven years. It is rare for lower-eyelid surgery to need to be repeated.

Preparation for the Surgery

Part of getting ready for your eye lift is arranging for a friend or family member to drive you home after the surgery. You will not be able to drive yourself home, since your eyelids will be recovering from the procedure. If possible, have a friend or family member stay with you after the surgery.

You should expect to stay home from work as well as limit the activities you perform while you recover. The most common side-effect is dry eyes. However, it doesn’t usually last for longer than two weeks.

It will be vital to have ice cubes, ice packs, small gauze pads, eye drops, clean towels, and washcloths ready for your recovery. Purchase these in advance.

How Is the Surgery Performed?

The surgery takes two hours in cases when both the lower and upper eyelids are being worked on. Local anesthesia with oral sedation is commonly administered before the procedure.

Dr. Mandal begins by creating tiny incisions in key areas of the eyelids. For the upper eyelid, the incision is made on the natural crease of the lid. For the lower eyelid, the incision is made either at the lash line or inside the lid.

She then separates the skin from the tissue beneath it and removes the sagging muscle and skin. Excess fat is repositioned or removed as needed to reduce the puffiness of the lids. After that, tiny stitches are used to close the incisions.

The Recovery Process After an Eye Lift

Recovery is quick and painless. The stitches that Dr. Mandal used will remain in the eyelids for a week at the most. Any post-surgical bruising or swelling will reduce in time, leaving the area looking more youthful and tighter.

How Do I Choose the Right Chemical Peel for Me?

Chemical peels are a non-surgical alternative for achieving more youthful skin without having to go under the knife.

The technique is widely employed by doctors the world over for the purpose of addressing skin conditions such as hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, acne scars, dark spots, wrinkles, and unwanted freckles.

To help you pick out the most suitable chemical peel for you, you will first need to know what your options are. This means understanding what a chemical peel really is and how it works.

Chemical Peels

As the name suggests, a chemical peel involves the application of a special chemical solution to the target area on the skin. The chemicals in the peel react with the outer damaged surface of the skin and cause it to peel off over time. Fresh and healthy skin gradually emerges from beneath, giving your skin a youthful and blemish-free radiance.

How to Choose the Right Chemical Peel for You

Selecting the most suitable chemical peel typically means knowing which types of skin issues you are trying to address. While all chemical peels help in improving the overall texture and evenness of your skin, they largely vary in the type of problems they are designed to correct.

Chemical peels are generally categorized into three types depending on how deeply they penetrate your skin surface. Here is all you need to know about each of them.

Superficial Chemical Peels

The most common type of chemical peel is the superficial chemical peel, also known as a light or shallow chemical peel. These typically consist of mild alpha-hydroxy acids.

As the name suggests, these chemical peels do not penetrate very deeply into the skin layers. They mostly help in correcting more superficial problems such as flaking, rough texture, and dullness in tone.

Because these peels only focus on the top layer of the skin, they are quite gentle and have a very quick recovery time afterwards. They are ideal for first-time patients.

Medium Chemical Peels

The medium chemical peel is usually made of 15% to 35% trichloroacetic acid. It is often employed for the purpose of treating sun-damaged skin, fine wrinkles, superficial blisters, hyperpigmentation, and other skin issues.

One of the most attractive features of medium chemical peels is that they help in correcting a large variety of skin problems with a comparatively short recovery time. These types of chemical peels are generally recommended for individuals with a darker skin tone.

Deep Chemical Peels

This type of chemical peel penetrates very deeply within the layers of the skin to deliver dramatic and long-lasting results. Since the deep chemical peels react strongly with the skin, they should be administered exclusively by trained physicians and medical practitioners who are proficient at handling any possible side effects.

Deep chemical peels such as the phenol peel are very effective in smoothing out coarse wrinkles, eliminating pre-cancerous growths, correcting deep acne scars, and more. Because they are so strong, they require more recovery time than weaker peels do.

Speak with a Board-Certified Medical Professional

The best way to decide on the right chemical peel for you is by speaking with Dr. Anita Mandal, a board-certified facial plastic surgeon. She will be happy to examine your skin and recommend a peel that meets your needs and aesthetic goals. For a consultation with Dr. Mandal, contact our office today.

Your Nasal Tip Can Look Better Thanks to Rhinoplasty

One of the most prominent features of your face is your nose. Most of us won’t admit it, but when we look in the mirror, there’s always something we would want to change about our nose. Maybe it’s too big, too bulbous, too droopy, or has an embarrassing hump.

Whether it’s a major change or just a subtle tweak, many of us would welcome nasal enhancement of some kind. Today, the popularity of rhinoplasty has made it an attractive option for people around the world.

Adjusting the Nasal Tip

As we age, the cartilage in our body breaks down. Gravity acts on this weakened cartilage, causing our nose and ears (which are predominantly cartilage) to droop. This process can make a beautiful tip of the nose look less than beautiful over the years.

Some of the common complaints people have about their noses that can be corrected by rhinoplasty are:
• Bulbous tip
• Wide tip
• Lack of definition
• Sagging tip
• Asymmetrical tip
• Lack of tip projection

If you feel that any of these apply to your nose, rhinoplasty may be the solution for you.

The Rhinoplasty Procedure: What to Expect

Rhinoplasty allows the surgeon access to the underlying nasal structure and can dramatically improve the look of your nose. It can also help you breathe better. Focusing on revising the tip of one’s nose is typically a subtle procedure that can make a big difference.

The procedure begins with anesthesia to make the patient more comfortable. Once it has fully taken effect, incisions are created. For nasal-tip rhinoplasty, either open or closed rhinoplasty can be used.

During closed rhinoplasty, the incisions are made within the nostrils instead of on the outside of the nose. This camouflages any post-surgical marks. It also means that the external skin of the nose will not need to be lifted.

During open rhinoplasty, the incisions are made on the columella, that area of skin between the nostrils. This allows for lifting of the skin of the nose, which in turn provides greater access to the underlying tissues and better visibility.

Once the incisions have been created, the nasal cartilages are altered as needed. In some cases, cartilage is removed, and in others, it is repositioned.

If the nasal tip is drooping or needs better definition, it may be necessary to strengthen it with the help of a graft. Grafts are sections of tissue harvested from other areas of the patient’s body like the ear or rib, and they are used to bolster sections of the nasal architecture.

When the procedure is complete, the incisions are closed with the help of medical stitches. Other dressings are often used as well in order to support the tissues.

The Recovery Process

Rhinoplasty focusing on the nasal tip doesn’t usually require a great deal of downtime. It will take a fair amount of time for the swelling to fully ameliorate, but the majority won’t last for too long.

Pick the Best Surgeon for the Job

Rhinoplasty can make your face look more youthful and enhance your smile. It’s important that you consult an extremely skilled surgeon for your procedure, since errors can be costly and frustrating.

That’s why it’s best that you arrange a consultation with Dr. Anita Mandal. Dr. Mandal, an experienced board-certified facial plastic surgeon, is your ideal choice for rhinoplasty. Contact us today for your consultation.

INFINI Is an Excellent Way to Lift Face and Neck Skin

Is your face or neck starting to show the signs of aging? If so, you may be considering opting for a facelift or neck lift.

However, these procedures require a lot of commitment from patients. If you’re interested in a simpler treatment that can provide excellent results without a long period of downtime, consider INFINI.

INFINI: A Radiofrequency Lift

INFINI is the name given to a new type of RF (radiofrequency) treatment that addresses wrinkles, sagging skin, and poor skin texture. This treatment uses a three-dimensional system of delivering RF energy, which allows for a boost in tissue volume.

How INFINI Works

INFINI brings together microneedling and factional RF technology to painlessly carry out a neck and/or facelift procedure. Unlike other RF-based treatments, INFINI does not work from the inside. Instead, via microneedling, the RF energy is delivered straight to the dermis.

The dermis is the second layer of our skin; in this layer, collagen exists in abundance. When the heat from the RF energy reaches this layer, it stimulates the production of more collagen. At the same time, it also helps tighten the tissue. This is done in a precise manner at various predetermined depths.

The minimally invasive and simple nature of the procedure leads to a quick recovery for the patient. There is hardly any downtime involved. More importantly, the patient benefits from improved skin tightness and a significant reduction in the appearance of scars and wrinkles.

What Sets INFINI Apart?

The tissues in the neck and face tend to vary in thickness. This variation occurs throughout the various regions that make up the face and the neck. Other than that, no two people have the same kind of skin formation or development.

There is also a correlation between a particular depth and a particular skin condition. What that means is each skin condition has a certain depth level. For instance, brown spots and wrinkles occur at different depths. The treatment needs to be altered according to the depth of the condition.

INFINI makes things easier by allowing for this sort of customization. We can calibrate the treatment according to the condition we are treating. This allows for greater precision and specificity.

Is INFINI Painful?

Patients experience only minor discomfort with INFINI, and the majority of patients do not consider it painful, especially in contrast with surgical procedures.

One of the reasons for the painlessness of the procedure is the microneedling approach. This allows for specific targeting, thereby preventing the surrounding areas from being heated. Plus, the customizability of the treatment means it can be adjusted according to the specific needs of each patient, minimizing discomfort.

After treatment, you will not be required to use dressings. You also will not experience peeling or significant redness. There is almost no downtime, which means you can return to your usual routine almost immediately.

Time to Smooth Away Those Crow’s Feet!

As a person ages, their skin goes through a variety of changes. This process starts out slow and subtle, but if left unchecked, it can quickly result in a number of unfortunate signs of aging.

Certain parts of the face are more susceptible to aging signs than others. One such area is the eyes.

Little lines that spread out from the outer corners of your eyes are the result of overactive facial muscles and the aging process. These fine wrinkles are commonly known as crow’s feet.

Botox: A Proven Way to Fight Crow’s Feet

Botox has become extremely popular and is now the go-to treatment for fine facial wrinkles. This injectable is a muscle-relaxing treatment with many uses. It is regularly used to treat crow’s feet and many other age lines, and it can also be used to address eye twitching, excessive sweating, and migraines.

How It Works

Botox works by blocking nerve signals from reaching muscles so that they don’t contract as often. Because of this, overworked facial muscles can relax, which in turn allows the overlying skin to smooth out and the wrinkles to disappear.

Some people’s faces have moderate and deeper lines that exist even when their face is relaxed. While Botox can help to some extent, dermal fillers are a better option for these people.

The Treatment Process

Botox is a simple procedure that takes approximately 15 minutes. During treatment, injections are delivered precisely into the targeted muscles. No downtime is required afterwards, so patients can immediately return to their regular daily activities.

Some people worry about the pain of an injection. Botox injections are very small, so the discomfort is minimal. We can further reduce the pain by numbing the area with a cold pack 10 to 20 minutes before the injections are given. Anesthetic cream may also be used; once it has worn off, it is normal to feel a little temporary discomfort.

Results are seen one to two weeks after the procedure and can last for around three to four months. There are a couple of different factors that may shorten or lengthen the amount of time that Botox will work:

• Age (Older people usually notice results diminishing faster than people with younger, firmer facial muscles.)

• Facial structure and a person’s typical facial expressions

• Smoking

• Diet

• The amount of sun you get and how much damage the sun has already done to your skin

• Taking good care of your skin using facials, microdermabrasion, and other resurfacing methods

• Resistance (Some people develop a resistance to Botox over time and need more frequent treatments. This differs from person to person.)

Learning More About Botox Treatments

If you are at all concerned about your crow’s feet and other fine facial wrinkles, contact us to schedule an appointment for a consultation with Dr. Anita Mandal to discuss solutions. An Endoscopic Brow Lift Boosts Those Drooping Eyebrows

One of the areas of the face most affected by age is the eyebrows. As we grow older, the muscles around our eyes weaken and this can cause our eyebrows to sag. Droopy brows can mar the beauty of your face and make you look years older than your actual age. A brow lift is a good treatment to correct sagging brows.

The Endoscopic Brow Lift

There are many types of brow lifts that plastic surgeons can perform. However, the minimally invasive endoscopic brow lift is one of the safest and most effective options. Here, an endoscope with a small camera and a light is used to analyze the tissues of the forehead and brow. The drooping tissues can then be resected accordingly.

Initial Consultation

First, Dr. Mandal will evaluate the patient’s brow and forehead to see if they are a viable candidate for the endoscopic brow lift. She will discuss the potential results of the brow lift with the patients at this stage. The areas that necessitate the brow lift may be marked, and a surgical plan will be created.

Anesthesia and Incisions

In most endoscopic brow lifts, twilight anesthesia is used to anesthetize the patient. Twilight anesthesia is a type of anesthesia that makes the patient semi-conscious. The anesthetic used here is a combination of chemicals including midazolam, fentanyl, propofol, ketamine, valium, and nitrous oxide.

The patient is in a state where they are aware of their surroundings but do not experience any pain or discomfort. This type of anesthesia is extremely safe and involves little to no complications.

Once the patient has been anesthetized, tiny incisions are made on the areas of the hairline marked by Dr. Mandal. This is less invasive than the single large incision made during the traditional technique.

Surgical Dissection

Next, an endoscope is used to see where the concentration of the optic nerves are around the eyebrows. The drooping tissues are dissected away from and around the nerves. Care is taken not to damage the eye at any time. The sagging tissues are removed, which causes frown lines and wrinkles around the eyebrows to disappear.

Muscles around the eyebrows may also be repositioned or lifted higher to improve the area’s appearance. Medical-grade sutures are then used to stitch up the incisions. Staples may also be used to tighten the skin and aid in repair.

Post-Surgical Care

There may be tenderness and discomfort after the surgery, but these will reduce in a few days. The patient is asked to keep their head elevated and avoid extensive eye and facial movements. Ice may be used to reduce redness and bruising.

A week after the procedure, the sutures and staples will be removed and oral pain management medication may be prescribed should the patient need it.

The endoscopic brow lift is one of the best ways to improve the appearance of droopy brows. The number of frown lines and wrinkles around the brow will also be reduced, giving the face a youthful appearance.

Youthful Wrinkle-Free Skin Can Be Yours Thanks to Juvéderm

Do wrinkles, creases, and lines on your face make you look older than you actually are? While the formation of wrinkles and other signs of aging is a natural process, there is no denying the fact that they really do make us look older. Sometimes they may even start appearing in your twenties, when you’re supposed to be enjoying clear and smooth skin.

Premature aging is a very common problem. Thankfully, there is a simple and highly effective solution: Juvéderm.

What Is Juvéderm And What Does It Do?

Juvéderm is a type of injectable dermal filler, a cosmetic treatment that is injected into your skin. It uses hyaluronic acid as its base and is administered all over the world to combat wrinkles and other signs of aging on the skin.

Mostly, patients receive Juvéderm treatments on their faces, specifically on their cheeks and around their mouth and lips. Approved by the FDA in 2006, Juvéderm is among the most commonly administered non-surgical cosmetic procedures in the United States.

Juvéderm helps to fix the loss of elasticity in the skin and fill in lines, wrinkles, and creases around the nose and the mouth. It can also restore and enhance lip volume. Juvéderm Voluma, another type of filler in the Juvederm family of products, is specifically designed to contour your cheeks by adding volume underneath the skin.

What Is the Treatment Procedure Like?

Typically, a Juvéderm treatment session takes 15 to 30 minutes depending on the condition of the patient’s skin and how many injections need to be administered. Juvéderm comes in a pre-packed ready-to-use sterile syringe. This makes the entire process very simple.

To minimize any chance of slight discomfort or pain, Dr. Mandal may apply a topical anesthetic cream to the area where Juvéderm needs to be administered so as to numb the region.

After this, the Juvéderm filler is directly injected into the areas on your face where wrinkles appear. This evens out all the lines and wrinkles in the area, giving you a more youthful look.

Juvéderm’s effects can be seen immediately after treatment. The results are also long-lasting, especially in comparison to other injectable products. The effects of Juvéderm typically last between six and nine months.

In addition, Juvéderm poses little to no risk of causing allergic reactions, since it is composed of biocompatible synthetic hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is found naturally in the body, where it attracts water molecules to maintain skin volume and to keep the skin healthy and moisturized.

Am I a Good Candidate for Juvéderm?

If you are not happy with the appearance of your skin and feel like age lines, wrinkles, and folds are making you look much older than your actual age, Juvéderm is ideal for you. You must also have realistic expectations from the procedure.
