Bellafil Superior To Fat For Facial Volume?

Question: I’m interested in fat injections for my hollow cheeks and eye circles. I’ve heard of Bellafil but isn’t fat better since it’s your own natural tissue?
Answer: A fat graft is simply not better because it’s your body’s own tissue. An ideal long-term injectable filler should also not resorb, or go away, quickly. While fat is “permanent”, at least half of what is injected goes away soon after injection. Thus, several invasive treatments to harvest the fat from your abdomen are typically needed.
An injectable filler should also be available in sufficient amounts to finish treatment. Thin people have much more limited body fat stores, whereas very overweight people with ample fat stores don’t always look as hollow in their face.
An ideal injectable filler should also be a relatively easy treatment with minimal recovery. While Bellafil treatments are convenient with minimal to no downtime, fat injections require surgical body incisions with prolonged facial swelling for 6 to 8 weeks after each treatment.
Claims that fat is a more natural substance than Bellafil are not quite accurate. The Bellafil crystal is inert but stimulates your own body’s collagen for volumization. It is also disputable that fat is the most superior permanent filler. While the Bellafil manufacturer’s brochure states a 5 duration, this does not mean that Bellafil disappears at 5 years. The U.S. FDA clinical trials ended at 5 years. European studies, however, show the filler to still be present even 13 years after injection.
Bellafil is not only long-lasting but also highly compatible with your body tissues. It works by stimulating your own collagen and has high safety profile with less than 1% granuloma rate. Treatments are minimal invasive with no surgery and minimal to no downtime.
It is a misconception to think you should only seek a surgeon for surgery. Facial Plastic Surgeons have expertise in both non-surgical and surgical facial aesthetic treatments. Each time you have a non-surgical procedure by a less qualified doctor, you increase the risk of complications and poorer results.
