Question: A plastic surgeon recommended CO2 laser for my facial wrinkles. Another advised that Infini works better. What is the difference?
Answer: Infini has significant benefits over C02 laser resurfacing.
C02 Laser resurfaces the skin whereas Infini not only treats wrinkles, lines and rough texture on the skin surface but also tightens and lifts sagging skin. Infini has this dual function because of its highly adjustable depth settings. Infini can target the deep skin layers to give tightening and lifting of sagging skin or a “non-surgical” facelift. Infini can also address superficial skin layers to improve lines, wrinkles and rough skin texture.
Unlike CO2 laser, Infini has no downtime. CO2 laser removes aged cells from the skin surface followed by regeneration of newer skin cells. This healing process has a recovery phase. Infini works primarily by stimulating collagen regeneration with no killing of surface skin cells thus, there is no downtime.
Compared to traditional resurfacing lasers and chemical peels which can thin the skin, Infini can actually improve skin thickness due to its collagen stimulation properties. Because peels and resurfacing lasers improve skin surface aging by removing the surface layers of the skin, over time, this process can lead to thinning skin. Have you ever seen someone who may have few lines and wrinkles for their age but their face has a pale, white, somewhat “ghastly” appearance? This can happen from excessive treatment with products and devices that slough or kill skin surface cells. On the other hand, Infini induces collagen regeneration in all the skin layers. As new and younger, healthy cells regenerate and move to the skin surface, the unhealthy dead skin cells are replaced.
Careful consultation with a Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon who is knowledged and skilled about the most effective devices for skin tightening and wrinkle treatment is the first step.
