Question: Last year, I had Ultherapy™ which gave me great results in terms of tightening of my neck. However, the treatment was uncomfortable. Is Infini less painful than Ulthera?
Answer: Most patients find Infini to be much more comfortable than Ultherapy. This difference may be partially due to the fact that the heat generated by Ultherapy goes very deep. In some cases, where the skin is too thin, the heat from Ultherapy may go deeper than is necessary.
On the other hand, the micro-needle probes in the Infini treatment head are insulated. This insulation allows for much more specific targeting of tissue with less conduction of heat to non-targeted areas and less chance of side effects. Furthermore, Infini has adjustable micro-needles that can be positioned at different depths to account for variable tissue thicknesses across the face and neck. The Infini’s unique technology is designed to give more precise treatments that are specifically tailored to each patient’s unique tissues.
I typically recommend Valium prior to Ultherapy. Infini treatments, however, can be performed with no more than a topical anesthetic creme applied over treatment areas 45 minutes prior to the procedure. Most patients will undergo additional Ultherapy treatments, but only after a prolonged interval. With infini, patients don’t seem to mind coming in at four week intervals to complete their series of three treatments. Patients tend to find that Infini treatments are significantly more comfortable than Ultherapy.
Careful consultation with a qualified facial plastic surgeon who has a thorough knowledge of facial anatomy and can customize your treatment using the most suitable “laser” devices is the first step.
