Infini RF to Lift, Bellafill to Fill

Question: I have sagging in my neck and lower face but also have hollow cheeks. I heard that Infini RF stimulates lost collagen to lift and tighten the skin like a non-surgical facelift. Since the volume loss in my cheeks is also due to collagen loss, will Infini RF make my cheeks look fuller too?
Answer: Infini RF does, in fact, work by stimulating collagen and elastin in your tissues, but this device targets the skin itself and works within the skin tissue layer. Infini RF causes a “two-dimensional” collagen stimulation effect to give tightening and lifting across sheets of skin.
In order to restore volume, you need a product that will stimulate collagen in a 3-dimensional manner. Volumization fillers such as Voluma, Sculptra or Bellafill – the 5 year filler – can be placed 3 dimensionally within the tissues deep to the skin to restore volume and reduce the appearance of cheek hollows. However, these fillers are typically placed under the skin to achieve this effect whereas 2-dimensional Infini skin tightening and lifting is done within the skin layer itself rather than deep to it.
Most patients, once they get to a certain age, experience both skin laxity and volume loss. While I perform facelifts in those patients who have loose skin in the neck and jowls as well as some SMAS laxity, it’s important to understand the limitations of facelift surgery. Many patients are under the faulty perception that a facelift will rejuvenate their entire face.
A facelift does not really restore lost facial volume. While facelift surgery can lift the skin, it does not intrinsically tighten skin and cannot address poor skin elasticity. In my practice, Infini RF to tighten and lift combined with a volumization filler to restore lost volume is a very popular option. The filler most commonly requested by my patients to restore volume is Bellafill because not only can it last 5 years but it also looks very natural.
A thorough consultation with a Board Certified Facial Plastic Surgeon to help you determine the optimal facial rejuvenation approach for your unique needs is the first step.
